Preparing and caring for your spray tan
2 - 3 days before appointment
Stop using actives like retinoids, vitamin c, and benzoyl peroxide
Avoid receiving massages or facials within 48 hours of appointment
1 Day before
Shave any unwanted hair - shaving too close to an appointment can cause dark spots to develop
Day of Your Appointment
Shower and exfoliate
Exfoliate using a washcloth or exfoliating gloves - avoid use of loofah
DO NOT USE DOVE PRODUCTS BEFORE OR AFTER APPOINTMENT - Dove products create a film over the skin that can negatively effect your tan
Avoid heavily moisturizing body washes before appointment
If appointment is late in the day - you may need to shower beforehand to remove excess oils + sweat build up
Make sure skin is clean and dry when arriving to appointment - no makeup, lotion, perfume, oils, etc. A small amount of antiperspirant is OK if preferred.
Wear dark loose fitting clothing with any undergarments you wish to tan in. Wear sandals or flip flops. Disposable underwear will be provided, and women may tan topless or nude if preferred.
Bring a ponytail holder to keep hair off of neck. A hair net will be provided upon request.
Weather permitting, bring umbrella and/or appropriate outerwear to prevent streaking after appointment
aftercare
Avoid any sort of moisture - including sweating - while tan is developing
Avoid skin on skin contact and wearing a bra or tight clothing while tan is setting
Your first shower will consist of rinsing off with cool or lukewarm water only. No soap, shampoo or conditioner. Always pat dry after shower, don’t rub. Moisturize afterward.
Note: During the first rinse, you will notice the bronzer coming off. This is only the guide color & your tan will continue to develop in the next 12-24 hours
During your second shower, you can begin washing with a mild/moisturizing body wash (Aveeno is my favorite!)
Continue to moisturize twice a day using tan-safe products to extend the life of your tan
To minimize premature fading and/or uneven color, avoid exfoliating (physical or chemical), excessive shaving, sweating, hot showers, baths, and exposure to saltwater and chlorine
Last and most importantly - if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
